Accuracy of Referrals to an Opthamologist (ACCURO)
Current literature suggests that there may be a difference in diagnostic findings between referring healthcare providers and paediatric ophthalmologists. AccuRO aims to answer a clinically important question that has never been answered through a formal research study to date. Specifically, medical charts of over 1,300 children were examined to determine the level of agreement in diagnostic findings between referring healthcare professionals and a paediatric ophthalmologist at The Hogarth Family and Pioneer Energy Ophthalmology Centre at McMaster Children’s Hospital, to determine whether referrals to the paediatric ophthalmologist were necessary.
